Hospital Watch is a watchdog group dedicated to shining a light on corporate hospitals as the top culprit in driving up U.S. healthcare costs – exposing corporate hospitals’ monopolistic practices in price gouging patients with excessive markups and hidden fees with no transparency while forcing patients and employers to pay more for their care. Adam “Buck” Buckalew is senior advisor for Hospital Watch. A former senior committee staffer in both the Senate and House of Representatives, Buck is a well-respected expert who has advised decisionmakers across both federal and state governments.
Buck previously served as the Deputy Health Policy Director for the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions. He was instrumental in negotiating the No Surprises Act, which ended surprise medical billing and represents the greatest patient protection in a decade.
Among his many legislative achievements, Buck counts the most rewarding his work formulating, drafting, and negotiating the SUPPORT Act – a landmark law to combat the opioid epidemic.
